Cataract treatment
Cataracts cannot be corrected with glasses or medication.
The surgery is the only definitive treatment, and it is one of the safest and most frequently performed procedures in the world.

- Phacoemulsification with advanced ultrasound, which fragments and removes the cataract.
- It is a procedure outpatient, painless and with rapid recovery.

Intraocular lenses: the key to your new vision
During surgery, the opaque lens is replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL).
There are different options depending on your lifestyle and needs:
- Monofocal → Clear distance vision; reading glasses may be required.
- Torics→ corrects astigmatism
- Premium (multifocal, extended range) → They offer vision at different distances and reduce the need to wear glasses.
Our team will guide you on what the best option is for you.

Frequently asked questions
Does cataract surgery hurt?
No. It is performed under local anesthesia and mild sedation. It is a quick and painless outpatient procedure; you will be back home the same day.
How long does the surgery take?
Approximately 15 to 25 minutes per eye. In most cases, you can go home less than 2 hours after your arrive.
When will I be able to see clearly again?
Many patients notice an improvement from the very first day. Visual recovery is usually fast within 24 to 72 hours, you can read, drive, and go to back to your daily life clearly.
What type of intraocular lens would be better for me?
It depends on your lifestyle, eye health, and visual preferences. At Clarity, we'll guide you in choosing between monofocal, EDOF, toric, and premium trifocal lenses, based on your diagnostic tests.
Does the intraocular lens need to be replaced later?
No. The lens stays in your eye permanently. That's why choosing the right one from the start is so important.
Can I have both eyes operated on the same day?
This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis during the evaluation. In general, one eye is operated on first, and the second a few days later.
What if I have other conditions like glaucoma or diabetes?
We have subspecialists who tailor the surgical plan to your specific case. It is possible to have cataract surgery safely even if you have other eye conditions.
